In a divided Senate, she brought twelve Republicans on board with Democrats to pass a bill into law protecting same-sex and interracial marriages. The bill prohibits states from failing to recognize out-of-state marriages based on sex, race or ethnicity. Now, LGBTQ Americans and those in interracial marriages across Wisconsin can sleep at night knowing their marriage is safe and no politician can tear their family apart.
