Women For Tammy
Women For Tammy
Tammy is dedicated to creating a level playing field for all Wisconsin women by improving access to women’s health care and maternity care, improving pay equity, keeping our neighborhoods safe, and ensuring women have the community support and good-paying jobs they need to succeed.
Invest in Women’s Health Act
At a time when women’s health and choice are under attack, Tammy is pushing back with her Invest in Women’s Health Act to increase women’s access to preventive care and life-saving cancer screenings. She has stood up to efforts to defund Planned Parenthood and is proud to be endorsed by Planned Parenthood Action Fund and NARAL.
Equal Pay
Wisconsin women, on average, are paid 78 cents for every dollar paid to men. Tammy is working to close the wage gap by cosponsoring the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would help women fight wage unfairness and prohibit employers from retaliating against workers who discuss salaries with colleagues.
Health Care for Every Wisconsinite
When it comes to providing affordable health care for every hardworking American, Tammy knows there is more that can be done to change the status quo, improve our health care system, and lower costs.
Maternity Care
According to recent estimates, more than a third of Wisconsin’s counties lack any OB-GYNs, and only one OB-GYN physician serves every 4,000 Wisconsin women.
With bipartisan support from Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Tammy introduced the Improving Access to Maternity Care Act to reduce maternity care shortages by identifying areas lacking maternal health professionals and helping incentivize providers to practice in these underserved, often rural areas.
Reduce Gun Violence
After seeing yet another mass shooting at another school, Tammy knows that thoughts and prayers are not enough – something must be done to keep our children safe from the threat of gun violence. Endorsed by Moms Demand Action, Tammy has advocated for multiple commonsense reforms like universal background checks for gun purchases, which a vast majority of Americans support.
