Senator Tammy Baldwin “In Your Corner” tour stops in Wausau

Ahead of her November re-election bid, Senator Tammy Baldwin continued her statewide “In Your Corner” tour in Wausau Wednesday.

The senator toured Applied Fab and Machining, a veteran-owned business in Wausau’s industrial park. She met with the owner and employees to learn more about the issues they face, including veteran unemployment.

Tim Sheridan, a 24-year Army veteran, started Applied Fab and Machining in 2010. He says he struggles with an apprenticeship program and attracting other veterans to jobs in manufacturing. He says it’s important to get veterans back to Wisconsin and make sure they “understand the availability of additional schooling using their GI Bill”.

Sen. Baldwin says, “We often don’t give credit for people like Tim who make it a priority to hire veterans and really go out of their way to hire veterans so we think there should be preferences for businesses that do that. And the Brave Act is one step in that direction”

Baldwin will wrap up her week-long tour on Sunday.
