Stand with Tammy on International Women’s Day
In 1984, I watched the Democratic National Convention in my one-room apartment complete with a mattress on the floor and tiny T.V. I was moved by Geraldine Ferraro walking across the stage to accept the nomination for vice president. When I saw her, I felt like I could do anything.
I want all women to feel this sense of possibility and opportunity. It’s my hope that I can inspire more women to run for office.
That’s why today, on International Women’s Day, I want you to stand with me in support of women in politics. We benefit from giving women a seat at the table. We need their perspectives and their voices to fight for equal pay, reproductive rights, and gender equality.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day, is #BeBoldForChange. Now more than ever we need men and women who will push for equality and resist attempts to rehash battles we’ve already won.
It’s time to be bold. Change isn’t always easy, and it doesn’t happen overnight. But together, if we support gender equality, we can get there.
