MADISON, Wis. – This morning, a new op-ed from the Cap Times editorial board highlights Tammy Baldwin’s work to restore and defend reproductive freedoms in the wake of the two-year anniversary of the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade. While detailing Tammy’s fierce pro-choice record throughout her career, the op-ed calls out Eric Hovde’s longtime anti-abortion efforts, which contributed to the overturning of Roe and the enactment of Wisconsin’s 1849 near-total criminal abortion ban.
Read below for more information on Tammy’s work to defend reproductive freedoms and why voting for her on November 5th is the only path forward to restoring abortion access nationwide.

Key Excerpts:
Cap Times: Want to fight for abortion rights? Vote for Sen. Baldwin
- Until reproductive rights are clearly defined and protected by officials at the federal level, the threat remains. That’s why supporters of abortion rights are working so hard to re-elect Baldwin this fall. In a closely divided Senate, the result of the November race in Wisconsin could tip control to the Democrats, who are generally pro-choice, or the Republicans, who are generally anti-choice. […]
- On the ground in Wisconsin, the contrast between Baldwin and her Republican rival Eric Hovde is stark. Hovde has a long record of opposing the right to choose. As the Democratic Party of Wisconsin noted in an assessment, Hovde supported the overturning of Roe v. Wade and doubled down on his support for the Dobbs decision. He proclaims himself as “totally opposed to abortion,” including legalized abortion from conception. […]
- He [Hovde] believes an abortion ban would be “reasonable.” And a far-right anti-abortion group endorsed him because he showed “strong support for federal right-to-life issues.” The group’s mission is to make abortion “legally unacceptable.”[…]
- Those particulars make a compelling argument against Hovde. But there is a far more compelling argument for supporting Baldwin. The incumbent’s stance is unequivocal. […]
- She has been a choice advocate going back to her days as an outspoken and highly effective state legislator in the 1990s. To that end, she has sponsored or co-sponsored the most important measures now under consideration by the Senate. […]
- Baldwin is not merely prepared to fight for reproductive rights. She is determined to define that fight in her next term as Wisconsin’s pro-choice senator.
