With the holidays approaching and holiday travel on the rise, Americans are watching the pumps and wondering just how much their trips to be with family and friends will cost. Typically this time of year has not been one where gas prices hit record highs, but with oil prices skirting a record $100 a barrel and stockpiles at low levels, the current price of gas is well above last year’s levels and at record levels for this time of year.

Being an American means having a commitment to our collective well-being, rather than each struggling to get his or her own. We have a responsibility to future generations as well.
Consequently, we must all value and care for our environment. Together, we should work to preserve and protect our shared natural resources. Clean air and water, and the development and use of clean energy sources, are essential.

Did you know that cranes are the most endangered family of birds in the world? Eleven of the world’s 15 species are at risk of extinction with the rarest being the North American Whooping Crane.
